Planet Textiles 2017

Delegate fee: £125

The Planet Textiles Summit was launched as a platform to assemble the leading thinkers in the global textile sector to drive forward environmental change in our industry in a bid to ensure a healthier planet for everyone.

Dedicated solely to reducing the impact of textiles on the environment, Planet Textiles has taken place on an annual basis since 2009 and has largely been held in Hong Kong and Shanghai. In 2016, for the first time it was held in Denmark in collaboration with the Copenhagen Fashion Summit and in 2017, Planet Textiles will be held in Bangalore, India on May 24th.

Jointly organised by MCL News & Media, Messe Frankfurt and The Sustainable Apparel Coalition, the last edition in 2016 was an astonishing success attracting over 440 industry leaders from fibre and textile suppliers through to the world’s largest clothing brands and retailers and senior politicians.

Attendees included senior executives from: Nike, VF Corporation, Wal-Mart, Marks & Spencer, Adidas, IKEA, Hugo Boss, IC Company’s, Li & Fung, H&M, Target, Uniqlo, Zara, Primark, Levi Strauss, PVH, Corp., ASOS, Gucci, JC Penny, Jack&Jones, Puma and many more.

Delegations from the Honduran Presidential Office as well as representatives from the German Federal Ministry and China’s National Textile & Apparel Council were also present.

Planet Textiles 2017 will take place on Wednesday 24th May at the JW Marriott Hotel, Bangalore, India and runs the day after the two-day Sustainable Apparel Coalition's annual member's meeting at the same venue.

This year's high-level event will tackle the issues of textile wastewater pollution, chemical management and natural resource conservation including both energy and water use. These significant issues are becoming even more critical to the growth of India's vast textile industry and remain under the microscope of apparel buyers that are considering sourcing from the region.

Further details will emerge on Ecotextile News in the coming weeks and on the Planet Textiles website, which will be updated shortly.

The Final Agenda for Planet Textiles 2017: The 8th annual Summit on Textiles & Sustainability will be announced shortly.
